Current Status on SB798: Bill has been stopped! Thanks for your support and please thank Assembly Member Hagman for his opposition to the bill!
What was SB 798
California SB-798 is a new bill introduced by Callifornia Legislator De León the bill proposes
The purpose of this bill is to include BB devices within
requirements pertaining to "imitation firearms" that are
prohibited for manufacture or sale in California unless the
entire exterior surface of the device is white, bright red,
bright orange, bright yellow, bright green, bright blue, bright
pink, or bright purple, either singly or as the predominant
color in combination with other colors in any pattern, as
provided by federal regulations governing imitation firearms, or
where the entire device is constructed of transparent or
translucent materials which permits unmistakable observation of
the device's complete contents, as specified.
This law is damaging not just to airsoft players in California but throughout the entire United States. Almost 90% of airsoft related items are shipped into California meaning that all airsoft devices would have to be changed damaging airsoft businesses world wide. This is an unmistakeable breach of the 2nd amendment and the constitutional freedoms we have living in the United States of America.
Current airsoft laws protect the populace without damaging airsoft businesses throughout the country and severly detracting from players enjoyment. The current laws require a person to be 18 to purchase any airsoft items. If a parent chooses to give their child an airsoft gun and not supervise them is a dangerous decision and the recent occurence is regrettable but choosing to change the laws regarding airsoft because of a singular incident is a stupid decision. Should we ban cars just because an underage child decides to use one and causes a crash?
